Westerville Community is an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ denomination. The United Church of Christ has a long history of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.

 

What this means is that by stating that it is Open and Affirming, our congregation officially recognizes the rights and values of all persons in our community and declares that people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions are welcome to participate in the full life of the church.

 

We are open, meaning that all are welcome here to come and participate fully, and when we say all we really mean it.

 

And we are affirming, meaning we believe that all people are created in the image of God just as they are and do not need to be fixed or judged. In our church, you will be loved and supported just as you and for who you are.

 

Our welcoming statement says, “We seek to affirm the person that you are with loving hearts and open minds….Any way the world describes you, or you describe yourself, you are welcome here to join and participate in experiencing our still-speaking God” and we are continually working to live into this more and more each day.

 

It is our goal to publicly reaffirm a core belief that all people are rightfully part of Kin-dom of God.

 

We want you to know that whoever you are, wherever you are, we may not have met you, but we love you, and you are welcome here!
